The Ship with Two Captains (1959) By Terence Robertson
Terence Robertson has here told the story of HMS Seraph who undertook a range of special mission during World War 2, one of which saw her nominally under the command of a US navy officer.
The reasons for this strange turn of events are described in this book as well as a number of other missions such as taking high ranking US officers to clandestine meetings in North Africa and dropping off supplies to Italian partisans. This was on top of normal combat patrols where the ship undertook both torpedo and surface attacks on enemy shipping.
