The Immortal Few: Commemorating the Battle of Britain and the Aircraft of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (2010) By Martin Bowman

'The Immortal Few' covers the perilous weeks in 1940 during which 'The Few' thwarted the Nazis in the prelude to their planned invasion of Britain. It includes photographs and personal reminiscences from that critical period, along with the complete text of Churchill's epic speech on 'The Few' made on 20 August 1940.

On the first Sunday in July, a service is held at Capel-le-Ferne to remember the Battle of Britain, and a single Spitfire or Hurricane from the BBMF at RAF Coningsby flies overhead. This pictorial celebration of the collection, which also includes a Lancaster, a C47 Dakota, and two Chipmunk aircraft, features recollections of pilots and engineers and a transcript of Churchill's memorable 'the Few' speech praising and thanking the crews.
