 'Sally' Home of the 11th Hussars, tells the story of the Cavalry on the Western Front during the First World War. He sailed to France in August 1914 and remained there almost continuously until after the Armistice. He was a personal friend of Haig, Allenby and Gough. He kept a diary throughout the entire period including stories of the retreat from Mons, defence of Messines and Battle of Cambrai. He also expresses the ever present agony of seeing men and animals or die unnecessarily or for no visible gain. Includes Footnotes and Index to Persons.
