The first section "lays out a framework for analysis of the origins of conflict and examines the case for external intervention. Part Two describes the peace process using past and present UN operations, and discusses the changes that have occurred. Consideration of various strategies for peace leads on to Part Three which concentrates on air power and peace enforcement." The book aims to contribute to the continuing debate in the United Nations on the concept of peace enforcement.
