Ancestor-Worship and Japanese Law (1912) By N. Hozumi

A fascinating insider's view of the practice of ancestor worship in traditional Japanese society and its effects on the laws of Japan. This book is based upon an address delivered by the author at the International Congress of Orientalists held in Rome in October, 1899. The object was to show the close relation which exists between Ancestor-worship and Japanese Law, and the vast influence which the former exercised upon different branches of the latter

At the time of original publication in 1912, Nobushige Hozumi was Honorary Professor of the Imperial University of Tokyo, a Member of the Imperial Academy of Japan, and Barrister-at-law of the Middle Temple, England.
